A woman has revealed her bizarre obsession with eating vapor rub in the latest episode of TLC’s My Strange Addiction.
‘I like to feel it melt in the back of my throat’
Danielle, 33, from San Antonio, Texas uses inhalers, patches, candles and rubs to get her fix, and even resorts to eating the gel and adding it to her morning tea.
‘I like to feel it melt in the back of my throat,’ she explains in a trailer for the episode.

Danielle’s addiction began over 20 years ago when she had a cold as a child.
‘I remember I put it on my chest because I was sick,’ she recalls. ‘And it just smelled so good to me I wanted to taste it.’
These days, she can’t go more than 30 minutes without the rub.
Danielle uses vapor rub patches, inhalers and candles, but her favorite way to get her fix is by putting the gel on the back of her tongue.
‘It’s hot and then it turns cold and it keeps going back and forth,’ she says.
And it doesn’t stop there – she also enjoys the sensation she gets when she rubs the gel on her eyelids. ‘It’s like when someone squirts lemon in your eye,’ she says, ‘but it’s a good burn.’

Danielle’s addiction is not only bizarre, but it also adds up: The video says she spends upwards of $350 a month on products to satisfy her cravings.
But the cost doesn’t seem to hinder the 33-year-old’s obsession with the feeling vapor rub gives her.
‘It’s like when you’re somewhere really really cold and you breathe,’ she explains in the trailer. ‘It kind of like, stings a little, but kind of a good sting,’ she says with a smile.
And her cravings are is so strong that she even adds vapor rub to her morning tea.
First Danielle coats the tea bag with a layer of the gel, then she adds another teaspoon to the drink.

But while the Texan finds the gel ‘relaxing’, her daughter Parice has another word for it.
‘It’s like, gross,’ she told TLC in the trailer. ‘It makes the house smell really nasty.’
This season of My Strange Addiction also features a woman addicted to drinking animal blood, a man who falls in love with balloons, and someone who can’t stop eating face masks.
