Martin-MontanoALBUQUERQUE,  N.M. —A suspect accused of stabbing his mother and a man, stuffing them  in a car trunk and throwing the woman from a bridge, did so because voices  coming from his television told him to, according to Albuquerque  police.

According to a criminal  complaint, on Tuesday, Martin Montano, 26, beat and stabbed his mother, Hope,  and a man named Francisco Dominguez.

Montano then loaded their  bodies into the trunk of a car and drove them to southwest Albuquerque. He  stopped at the Rio Grande Bridge and threw his mother over the side.

The bridge is  approximately 60 feet above the water.

Police said a passerby  intervened, stopping Montano from throwing Dominguez over the bridge, and  Montano took off on foot.

Witnesses reportedly told  police which direction he ran. Montano was apprehended in northeast  Albuquerque.

Montano was charged with  an attempt to commit a violent felony, attempted murder, tampering with  evidence, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, unlawful taking of a motor  vehicle and aggravated burglary.

Once his mother was  rescued, she and Dominguez were transported to University of New Mexico Hospital  with head trauma, stab wounds and blunt-force trauma to their bodies, according  to the complaint. They are listed in critical condition but are expected to  recover.

Records show that Montano  was arrested in August, 2012, for false imprisonment and battery against his  mother. According to police, in that incident, Montano was seen restraining his  mother, pushing her to the ground shouting, “You have demons in you.”
