Employees at the First Assembly of God in Owasso, Okla. contacted police when they noticed that one of the church’s computers had been stolen. They suspected it was an inside job, as there were no signs of a break in and nothing else on the property had been touched. Local police concurred but couldn’t find any leads pointing them toward a suspect.

Enter the porn industry, which 2 1/2 weeks later helped expose the culprit to authorities.

Troy Ridling, who had attended church services at First Assembly of God, tried to watch pornography on his newly acquired computer. However, most churches don’t condone that sort of behavior, and this church in particular had installed Covenant Eyes onto the machine to prevent users from perusing skin picks and other naughty notions online.

Undeterred, Ridling contacted Covenant Eyes to get the monitoring software removed from the stolen merchandise. The customer care representative denied his request, then faster than you can say, “Oh, God! Oh, God! Yes! YEEES!” they alerted church employees, who in turn alerted the police. Ridling was soon arrested, and though he initially denied stealing the computer, officers found the device at his home.  Police say Ridling eventually confessed to the theft, and he’s now in the Tulsa County Jail.

Which, when you think about it, kind of sounds like the opening to a porn movie.
