An 18-month-old boy accidentally left in an elevator lift by his mother was beaten and murdered by a 10-year-old girl in Chongqing, China .
A news website, Shanghaiist, published grainy CCTV footage of the incident, which captured the horrific violence that took place. In the video, you can see the mother struggling to get a bike out of the door, when the doors closed behind her, leaving the boy, Yuanyuan, in the elevator. Then, the young girl can be seen picking up the helpless boy and repeatedly beating him, even as he tried to get up, before exiting on the 25th floor.
That’s when the girl allegedly threw the baby off the balcony, where he landed in the bushes below. He was taken to hospital but died shortly after.
Outside the building, there are still small pools of blood near where the baby was found.
It is understood that the girl, who entered the lift on a different floor, was not related to the boy or his mother. It is not known if the girl is in custody.
Chongqing Broadcasting Group, a state broadcaster, recently aired footage of the boy’s distraught mother weeping as she described the incident.
