With so much of the country dealing with winter weather, it’s a good time to remind would-be crooks that cops are very skilled at following footprints in the snow

24203865_BG1An Akron man busted for robbery after police followed his snowy footprints.

Around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the owner of Gehm and Sons on South Arlington Street was robbed at knifepoint.

The victim reported he was locking up the business for the night, when he noticed the suspect near the victim’s truck. The suspect reached into the victim’s truck and took a briefcase. When the owner confronted the suspect, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the victim. The victim then called police.

Officers followed footprints in the snow and located the suspect, Frederick C. West, 48. West was taken into custody in the 1000 block of Forbes Avenue. He was charged with aggravated robbery, obstructing official business and possession of drug paraphernalia.

West had a roll of money belonging to the victim in his possession. The owner’s briefcase was located in the 900 block of Eva Avenue.
