Ada officers captured the interaction with Michelle Childress on Feb. 14th with a small camera they wear.
Police say Childress spoke with them on school property outside Washington Elementary School in Ada and was drunk. In a police report filed by Ada officers, they report being able to smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Childress.
Teachers told police they didn’t want her behind the wheel of her car so they distracted her. By the time police arrived, they said she smelled strongly of alcohol.
Childress, a former employee of the school, told officers in the video that she was called in to sub and admitted to drinking before she showed up to the school. When the officer told her that it was bad decision to show up to school intoxicated, she told officers that she wasn’t drunk.
The report shows that police tried to administer a field sobriety test but she refused. In the video, you can see her refuse and asking not do it in front of the school. Police arrested her and took her to the Pontotoc County jail. She was tested there and had a blood alcohol level of .263, more than three times the legal limit, according to the report.
