A man carrying a suspicious powder put a Brooklyn emergency room on temporary lockdown early Sunday, cops said — but the substance turned out to be drugs.
The man, who police said was in his 30s, brought the powder into Lutheran Medical Center’s emergency room shortly before 1 a.m. and told workers he wasn’t sure what the substance was, police said.
As a precautionary measure, patients were cleared from portions of the Sunset Park emergency room and ambulances were temporarily diverted to nearby hospitals, FDNY officials said.
Police later determined the powder was a “narcotics mixture” that did not pose a threat to patients or staff, authorities said.
The man who brought in the powder was taken into custody and charges were pending, police said.
The emergency room was functioning at full capacity by 6 a.m., police said.
Cops were still determining what drugs were in the mixture.
