Two young students were approached on Monday in Waterford by a man who told them he was a doctor.
Police said it happened at the playground of the Quaker Hill Elementary School while a little league game was taking place.
On Tuesday, parents said they were a little uneasy.
“I was just shocked that I hadn’t heard because I live in the area and I know it just happened last night, but shocked and concerned about my kids being around,” said Rose Clack, a mother.
They said the man asked the children questions about the local schools as well as to which grade they belonged.
The suspect then left the playground.
However, police said he returned a short time later and told the kids he was a doctor and that there was a new type of tick. He said he wanted to check the children for it.
“It’s very strange, it’s very strange,” Clack said.
The man was described as standing about 6′ tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He had dark hair and wore a dark blue sport jacket with brown pants and black shoes.
The vehicle he drove was possibly a newer-model white four-door Audi with a Connecticut registration.
Anyone with information was asked to call the Waterford Police Department at 860-442-9451.
Police said that since school is out for the summer and children are spending more time outdoors, it may be a good reminder to talk to your children about not talking to strangers.
“I talk to them about it, we took a book out at the library,” B.G. Ebbin said. “I always tell them ‘don’t go with anyone you don’t know.’”
