A 49-year-old man is facing two felony charges after he got drunk and fired a shotgun into a neighbor’s home, police said.

50e24816211da_preview-300Mark Bradley Fetsch of the 2100 block of Oakbrook Drive, was charged Monday with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon by an intoxicated person.

Police gave this account of the incident:

About 11:25 p.m. Sunday, Fetsch walked out of his mobile home with a 12-gauge shotgun and began firing. One round hit his own front porch, and two more rounds were fired into an adjacent mobile home occupied by eight people.

An infant was asleep in the master bedroom in close proximity to where one of the pellets landed. Seven other pellets hit the outside of the home.

A neighbor who witnessed the shooting confronted Fetsch, but Fetsch told the man if he valued his life and his children’s lives, he should go back into his home.

Afterward, Fetsch did put away his shotgun, but he damaged a fire hydrant by throwing a large rock at it, causing the top to break in half.

When police arrived, Fetsch initially hid behind a vehicle but later turned himself in. Fetsch offered no reason for his behavior, police said.

Bail in Fetsch’s case is set at $30,000. He was being held Monday at the O’Fallon Police Department.
