When Melody Massey’s husband drove past their home on Summit Avenue near Baldwin Avenue in Jersey City last week, he didn’t think his wife would have parked the family car where he saw it.
And when he called her at her job in New York to tell her that their 2007 Pontiac G6 was perched on top of another car, she thought he was joking. “Now tell me why you really called,” she said she told him on Thursday.
While Massey was at work, a 79-year-old man driving a construction truck backed into her car and another car, which in turn damaged two more parked cars, according to a police report.
The driver of the Tonnelle Construction truck told police he was making a “K” turn on Summit Avenue and the gears slipped, causing his truck to rock back into Massey’s car. The car was thrown on top of another car, a 2012 Honda Accord.
